Action specialist Renny Harlin is in talks to direct Jackie Chan’s action comedy Skiptrace, replacing Sam Fell.
Die Hard 2 director Harlin, spoke highly of Jackie’s performance.
“I thought that I knew everything about film making already, but working with Jackie, I’m learning so much every day. His way of doing things and improvising action and coming up with ideas, he’s a comic genius which everybody knows. He’s a comic genius and he will always come up with something that you add to the scene, so it’s even more fun.”
The film started shooting in August and is expected to hit the cinema in 2015.

Jackie Chan is lining up a new English-language action comedy Skiptrace, where he is playing a detective on the hunt for an American gambler who owes a fortune to a certain casino in Macau.
Jay Longino has been tapped to pen the screenplay and ParaNorman movie director Sam Fell to direct, when China’s number one ‘It girl’ Fan Bingbing plays the female lead.
Fan Bingbing is in popular demand at the moment making her way to Hollywood with movies such as Iron Man 3 and also the upcoming X-Men movie.
“Skip trace” will be produced as a Sion-Foreign co-production by Exclusive Media and Talent International, which will also co-finance the film.
“After a career spanning 40 years, Jackie Chan is at the top of his game and we are delighted to be partnering with him and our friends at Cyrte on Skiptrace – it’s a fun, action filled script and has the hallmark of a blockbuster hit,” said Exclusive’s co-chairman Nigel Sinclair and Guy East.
In the beginning this movie was planned as a part of Rush Hour franchise with Brett Ratner as a director and Chris Tucker on the side, but it didn’t happen.
“Personally, I feel that if he were to pick it up, it would be better if we turned it into Rush Hour 4 but I do think that three movies for the franchise is a perfect ending. It would be better to start a new buddy movie with someone new,” Chan said.
It was just about a week ago when Chan said this about the Rush Hour franchise of movies: “I have reasons to do each film, I have something to say. Unlike Rush Hour – there was no reason [in making it], you just give me the money and I’m fine. I dislike Rush Hour the most, but ironically it sold really well in the U.S. and Europe.”
