Cold War 2 is going to the new level with Chow Yun-Fat joining the team of Tony Leung, Aaron Kwok and Eddie Peng.
Cold War was the highest grossing Hong Kong film of 2012 earning US$5.78 million at the local box office and US$40 million in China. It also collected 9 prizes at the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards including best film, best director, best screenplay and best actor. No wonder producers decided to make a sequel.
The first movie was about two Deputy Commissioners fighting over who should lead the rescue operation with a code-named Cold War, and save five police officers which gone missing.
Longman Leung and Sunny Luk will already presented the film at the Shanghai International Film Festival on June 11 and got a very positive feedback.
Cold War 2 is produced by Hong Kong’s Edko Films with the original duo of directors on board, and is slated for July 8, 2016 release.

Synopsis: Resuming the storyline the first part, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sean Lau is hell-bent on nabbing the mastermind behind the kidnapping of the police van and the five police officers. On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner of Police Waise Lee and his son Joe Lee are joining forces with the biggest mastermind of all, Peter Choi. The three of them plot against Sean Lau in an attempt to outwit him. The Hong Kong police force is in internal chaos. With those at the top turning against each other in the face of power, wealth, and prestige, what will Sean do to protect his position and the safety of his loved ones?
