CS: How did “In the Blood” begin for you?
Gina Carano: It just came! I got it a long time ago. I remember reading the script for it and I called my agent and was like, “Look, I really like this script.” I kind of connected with it immediately. Sometimes I’ll get scripts and they’re hard to get through or I don’t really connect with it. This is one script, though, that I just really connected with and really wanted to do. I called my agent and was like, “I want to make this happen.” I had been in London shooting “Fast & Furious”. Two days after I got done shooting, I went straight to Puerto Rico and was wearing a wedding dress, filming there.
CS: You’re obviously incredibly talented at handling yourself in a very physical fight scene, of which “In the Blood” has quite a few, but there are also some very physical scenes that aren’t necessarily fighting. There are some sequences on a zipline, for example. Is that a very different skill set or is it an expansion of fighting skills?
Carano: Oh my God. That was awesome. “In the Blood” is one of the craziest things I’ve ever done and it was such a quick shoot at the same time. I would wake up every day not even knowing what they had in mind for me. It was just so intense. Every single day was something different. I’d come to set and wouldn’t have much prep time because I was filming “Fast & Furious”. I would show up and we’d do a fight scene and we’d make up on the stop, on the day, the fights. I’d say, “Okay, I like what the stunt coordinator has here, but I’d like to add this on top of that.” I was very active trying to find a way to both build the character and make use of my skill set. That was good for me because I got to actually create. It was so much fun and it was such a quick shoot. I love creating. This was a smaller film compared to the other films I’ve done, but it’s also one of my favorites because I just got to sit there and create. It makes working those long hours so worth it. You get to be so much a part of it, creatively.

Back in February 2012, it was announced that the star of Haywire movie Gina Carano will act in a new action film titled In The Blood, and, now, THR brings more casting news, as Danny Trejo and Stephen Lang have both signed on to act opposite the MMA star.
In The Blood will star Gina Carano as a wife who brutally extracts revenge on the men she believes killed her husband while they were vacationing in the Caribbean. Trejo is set to play the main villain, Big Biz, while Lang will be seen as the protagonist’s father/mentor who trained her to be the fighting machine she has become.
Production, initially slated to begin over the summer, will instead start on location in Puerto Rico this November.
There is not so much chances to see this film on a big screen, because Trejo is a straight-to-DVD guy and Lang may have done Avatar, but he doesn’t exactly light the world on fire with the rest of his filmography.
Meanwhile Gina Carano enjoys her time with Vin Diesel, The Rock, Tyrese, Paul Walker and others on the sets of Fast Six movie.
Gina Carano is continuing to roundhouse-kick her way into the movie business.
Any fan of Gina Carano should be excited to hear that she has signed on to her next starring role in the revenge actioner In The Blood. The script reminds Taken with Liam Neeson, so woman is going to kick giant amounts of ass on the big screen this time. I’m on it, interesting to see it, but… if this movie will be given to the right hands of talented fighting choreographer… and no shaking camera please! Actor-turned-director of this film is John Stockwell, known by Turistas movie about group of young backpackers’ vacation. Bennett Yellin and James Robert Johnston wrote the script.
“This role will showcase not only Gina’s fighting skills, but also her acting abilities as her character struggles to reign in her violent past,” Stockwell tells.
In the In The Blood movie Gina will be playing the grieving widow of a man who was kidnapped and killed. The grieving wife passionately and recklessly pursues the men whom she believes kidnapped and killed him.
The debut actioner with Gina the Haywire has already grossed $25,329,190 worldwide with a budget of $23 million. Well done Steven Soderbergh, you found the next female action star for years to come!
