The Final Master movie follows the last Wing Chun practitioner’s quest to pass down his art in pre-WWII China. The film was directed and written by Xu Haofeng, and was already nominated for Best Screenplay, Best Choreography and Best Supporting Actress at the 33rd Golden Horse Awards in 2015.

Plot: Wing Chun practitioner sets on ambitious journey to fulfill his master’s dying wish of opening a martial arts school in Tianjin, the mecca of martial arts. In order to achieve this, he has to send an apprentice to challenge and defeat eight other martial arts schools. Yet, he becomes a pawn to the local power figures, placing his wife and apprentice in danger. In the end, he must choose between what is right and fulfilling his master’s wish.
The Final Master was released in China and Taiwan in December 2015 and generated favorable reviews from critics. It is getting a limited theatrical release on June 3rd, 2016.
