Scott Adkins and Michael Jai White have joined the international cast of sci-fi TV series Metal Hurlant Chronicles. Rutger Hauer, Joe Flanigan and James Marsters will also star in the TV show’s first season.
Created by comic artists Jean Giraud and Philippe Druillet in 1974, Metal Hurlant became a sci-fi phenom in the 1980s, later it was published in the U.S. as Heavy Metal.
The first season will be delivered in April and the second will bow in November 2012. Each episode will adapt stories from the original graphic novels.
Director Guillaume Lubrano has been fighting for years to complete this project which is particularly close to his heart. Fan of comics, which marked a whole generation of readers, he wanted to develop a series of anthology in the tradition of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. Each episode of 26 minutes – shot in English and will be in the best tradition of comics, with everything you need – action, heroic-fatasy, science fiction, violence, sex, but also a certain poetry.
Panini U.K Media, the licensing arm of the Panini Group, is handling international sales and shopping the series at the Mipcom TV mart, which kicked off in Cannes on Monday.
