Mixed Martial Arts rule the world now, so no wonder why producers prefer to blend big Hollywood stars with mma style fighting action more and more, they did it with The Warrior movie stars Tom Hardy or Never Back Down 2 movie stars Michael Jai White.

In Haywire Gina Carano plays a girl that comes distinctly from the wrong side of the tracks but a girl who gets a second chance to use her martial arts skills in a better way and in a good way. Those who are teaching her the good ways are trying to get it across to her that she need only use her martial art skills for good rather than to do harm or bad things. She does get it and Haywire is a good movie. It will keep you on the edge of your seat in suspense wondering if she will do right or go the wrong way of what she has been taught.

The former face of women’s MMA Gina Carano will chop-socky her way onto the big screen in Haywire courtesy of director Steven Soderbergh in Spring 2011. But will she get her hands dirty inside the cage one more time before the glitz and glamor of Hollywood take her for good?

Carano started her career in the sport of Muay Thai. After achieving a Muay Thai record of 12-1-1, Carano received an offer to participate in the first-ever sanctioned female MMA bout in Nevada. She was invited to the World Pro Fighting show in Las Vegas to fight Rosi Sexton. Carano won the fight by knocking out Sexton late in the second round.

Carano faced Elaina Maxwell at Strikeforce: Triple Threat on December 8, 2006. She won the fight via unanimous decision. Carano proved critics wrong when she defeated Maxwell for the second time; the first victory coming in a Muay Thai bout. The fight was also the first female fight in Strikeforce.

She starred in the cult film Ring Girls. Based on true events, Ring Girls is a fast-paced story about five American women from Las Vegas who take on the ultimate challenge of fighting the best female Muay Thai fighters in the world.

In May 2009, it was announced that Carano was ranked #16 in Maxim’s Hot 100 list.

The film was first announced in September 2009 originally under the title of Knockout, which was later changed to Haywire, before production began. The film’s screenplay was written specifically to be shot in Dublin. The film was shot mostly in Ireland, filming began from 2 February 2010 to 25 March 2010 on a budget of around $25 million dollars. Production of the film created over one-hundred jobs in the area where it was filmed.

The spy-thriller Haywire, which co-stars Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas and Michael Douglas amongst others is now being released by Relativity Media who have decided to shift it’s big screen debut from August to January, 2012.That’s not a good sign, and neither is a January release date which is traditionally a quiet month in the movie industry.
