Assassin’s Creed is not another superhero movie with parkour-intensive stunts

Assassin's Creed

Assassin’s Creed is set for December 21 release and has a potential to become a franchise. Kurzel and Fassbender are driven by the desire to highlight the strong themes of the video game while taking the core storytelling nugget and crafting something entirely of their own making adding jaw-dropping stunts.

Sure 20th Century Fox’s put a great hope for this ambitious adaptation, hoping to bring another hero to moviegoers. Disney tried to do the same with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in 2010 but it didn’t work out, even when it grossed $336,000,000 worldwide with a budget of $200,000,000.

So let’s wait till December when Michael Fassbender will show us what he is capable of in the movie full of running, jumping, and fighting.

From the trailer we can see a hard work of a stunt coordinator Ben Cooke who previously worked on The Huntsman, Thor 2 and Witch Hunter. Actually he was a stunt double for Jason Statham in many movies so this is a really good reference.

Mike Lambert served as an assistant of stunt coordinator here and his credits are really impressive: The Legend of Tarzan, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Wrath of the Titans.

Studio put together a very good team of stuntmen and actors so fingers crossed.

Check out the first trailer below:

Synopsis: Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

By the way, Ubisoft gave the prop makers a Bible of every weapon ever made for the games that they could use as a guide. They made 3,000 weapon props. Getting the wristblades to work for real while also looking pretty was really tough for the team, but they pulled it off. Even though the game wasn’t out yet, Justin Kurzel wanted to include a weapon from Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, so Ubisoft obliged.

Starring Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender and Academy Award winner Marion Cotillard, Assassin’s Creed already got a lot of attention, and not because of a popular video games and tons of devoted fans but because this is a step aside from superhero movies.

Based on the Ubisoft game franchise, the Assassin’s Creed follows Callum Lynch who, through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, is able to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain.

An adaptation of Assassin’s Creed has been in development for years, but it finally took flight when Michael Fassbender became involved as producer and star, and he made the project even more enticing by enlisting his Macbeth director Justin Kurzel to take the helm, who filled the cast out with Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, and Michael K. Williams, among others.
